Surratt, Delia
Adjunct Professor
California-born Delia Surratt obtained her BA in music from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. Having won a scholarship for post-graduate studies, she moved to Italy to study opera. She has sung in Italy鈥檚 most famous opera houses, including 鈥淟a Scala鈥 (Milan), 鈥淚l Regio鈥 (Parma and Turin), 鈥淚l Massimo鈥 (Palermo), 鈥淟a Fenice鈥 (Venice), and 鈥淚l Petruzelli鈥 (Bari). She sang for various national radio and TV companies in the US, Italy, France, and Germany and recorded for Philips and Deutsche Grammophon. She was historically the first woman employed by the Sistine Chapel boys鈥 choir in the Vatican as the Maestro of Vocal Technique for three years. She was a Maestro of Vocal Technique at the Italian State Conservatories of Music for 40 years. She has been the professor of vocal technique at 黑料门University Chicago JFRC since 2010. Her ongoing singing career brings her to the major theatres and concert halls of Europe and Africa, and venues in the US and China.
