Palmer keynote announced

Bernadette Melnyk

A highly regarded youth mental health expert will be the keynote speaker at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing鈥檚 2024 Ruth K. Palmer Research Symposium.  

Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, APRN-CNP, EBP-C, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN, is an international consultant in evidence-based practice, intervention research, and child, teen, and young adult mental health. She is vice president for health promotion and chief wellness officer at The Ohio State University, where she is the Helene Fuld Health Trust Professor of Evidence-based Practice at the College of Nursing and a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the College of Medicine.  

Melnyk has advised hundreds of health care systems and colleges worldwide on how to improve quality of care and patient outcomes by implementing and sustaining evidence-based practice. Her presentation will address community-engaged research as way to advance health equity as part of this year鈥檚 event theme, 鈥淓mbracing Innovation through Research and Evidence-based Practice: Shaping the Future of Health Care.鈥  

Professor Karen Saban, associate dean of research and scholarly innovation, said Melnyk is a renowned speaker who brings important insights on mental health.  

鈥淎ddressing mental health and promoting wellness is critical to providing holistic care to patients as well as caring for providers. We are honored to have Dr. Melnyk as our keynote speaker this year,鈥 she said.  

Now in its 37th year, the Ruth K. Palmer Research Symposium addresses matters critical to nursing research, education, administration, policy, and clinical practice. The 2024 Symposium will be held April 5, 2024, from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Center for Translational Research and Education at 黑料门University Medical Center, featuring speakers from 黑料门Nursing and other institutions.
