Conversations on the Catholic Imagination
The Relevance of the Stars Book Discussion
Featuring Cardinal Seán O'Malley

November 18, 2021, 6:00-7:30 PM CST

Zoom Forum, Registration Required.

Cardinal Se谩n O鈥橫alley and Monsignor Lorenzo Albacete were friends for decades, starting before the latter entered the seminary. Though their particular paths in the Church diverged 鈥 O鈥橫alley became the Archbishop of Boston and Albacete went on to lead the Communion and Liberation movement in the U.S. -- they shared a passion not only for the rich tradition of Catholic culture and thought but also for addressing the urgent question of how to live a Christian life in a postmodern era. The publication of a posthumous collection of some of Albacete鈥檚 most brilliant talks and essays -- 鈥淭he Relevance of the Stars: Christ, Culture, Destiny鈥 -- provides a perfect opportunity to reflect on the Mystical Monsignor鈥檚 legacy as a theologian, pastor, and public intellectual. The editors of 鈥淭he Relevance of the Stars鈥 鈥 Lisa Lickona and Gregory Wolfe 鈥 engaged in a lively conversation with Cardinal O鈥橫alley about the life and legacy of Monsignor Albacete.

Cardinal Se谩n Patrick O鈥橫alley, OFM Cap. is the ninth bishop and sixth archbishop in the more than 200 year history of the Archdiocese of Boston. During a trip to Rome to take formal possession of his titular church in September 2006, Cardinal O鈥橫alley became the first cardinal in the world to launch a personal blog, cardinalseansblog.org, which he continues to update weekly. Shortly after Pope Francis鈥檚 March 2013 election, the Holy Father selected Cardinal O鈥橫alley to be the only North American member of his council of cardinals 鈥 commonly called the 鈥済roup of nine鈥 or simply the 鈥淕9鈥 鈥 who advise the Holy Father on the restructuring of the Roman Curia.
