January Notice

The ºÚÁÏÃÅUniversity Chicago community mourns the death of David Prasse, PhD, vice provost for academic and faculty resources and former dean of the School of Education.

David joined the ºÚÁÏÃÅcommunity in 1999 as a professor in the School of Education and became the school’s associate dean for academic programs in 2003. He served as interim dean from 2004–05 before being named dean of the school in May 2005. As dean, he developed the school’s strategy to become the premier private university in Chicago for teacher preparation and instructional leadership. He oversaw the refocusing of graduate education with nationally recognized programs in educational psychology and higher education and achieved reaccreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the American Psychological Association. Through Loyola’s partnerships with neighborhood schools, David designed and forged the University’s transformational relationship with Senn High School.

In January 2013, David was promoted to vice provost and oversaw the major operational responsibilities of the Office of the Provost, including faculty administration, faculty development, institutional effectiveness, academic business and budgeting, research services, facilities planning, and registration and records. He has served on the University’s Budget Review Team, ITS Executive Steering Committee, and the Strategic Plan Implementation and Steering Committee.

In so many ways, the efficient and effective operations of the Division of Academic Affairs were dependent on David’s extraordinary management of people and resources.
