The ºÚÁÏÃÅUniversity Chicago community mourns the death of Carole Holdsworth, PhD, retired professor in the department of Modern Languages and Literatures.

Dr. Holdsworth retired in 2016 after 51 years at Loyola. A professor of Spanish and Spanish literature, she was a valued member of the Modern Languages and Literatures faculty and served on the Graduate Studies Committee and the department’s “core” committee.

Dr. Holdsworth specialized in research concerning the contemporary novel, Don Quijote, and modernismo. She frequently taught introduction to Spanish literature, Don Quijote, and medieval Spanish literature.

Many of her colleagues talked about how she devoted her life to scholarship and teaching but she never failed to send a Christmas card, nor to memorialize the birth of a child, a retirement, a new marriage.

Condolences can be sent to Richard Mitchell and Diane Ewing, 652 Grand Ave., Chicago, Il 60654.

Please remember her family in your prayers.
