The ºÚÁÏÃÅUniversity Chicago community mourns the death of Kaneidra Everson, coordinator of the spirit teams, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was in her 15th year with Loyola’s spirit programs.

Kaneidra was a double alumna of the University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice. As an undergraduate, she was a four-year member of Loyola's dance team and served three years as captain. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she joined the coaching staff and led the Athletics Department’s dance, cheer, and mascot programs.

On behalf of Loyola’s Athletics Department, Director Steve Watson shared: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Kaneidra, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and our current spirit team members and coaches. ºÚÁÏÃÅlost a great person and someone who embodied the Jesuit ideals. The last few years have not been easy for Kaneidra, but she always maintained a positive attitude and courageously fought this battle. We have heavy hearts today.”

Kaneidra also worked for the Universal Dance Association as a head instructor in the Midwest region and as a competition judge on both the regional and national level. In addition, she served as a freelance choreographer for dance teams across the country.
