The ºÚÁÏÃÅUniversity Chicago community mourns the death of David (Dave) French, PhD, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) facility manager in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and a ºÚÁÏÃÅalumnus. Dr. French passed away on July 13 after a long battle with cancer.
During his 19 years at Loyola, Dr. French conducted nuclear spectroscopy research, coached science students, and authored several articles published in scientific journals. He also received his PhD in chemistry from ºÚÁÏÃÅin 1991. He was known for his intelligence; analytical mind; amazing memory for facts, events, names, and places; and his deep love of playing music and performing in bands. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Ryan, and son, Eric.
